SFIII: 3rd Strike – Game Spot Versus League Battle [10th Dan] Part 2
Game Spot Versus League Battle held 13th November 2009 at Game Spot Versus Arcade 10th Dan Matches. Players: Nuki(KE)(CH), RX(UR), Boss(GO)(MA), Genki(AL) Players: ヌキ(KE)(CH), RX(UR), ボス(GO)(MA), 元気(AL) White text = “Battle for next dan rank” Red text = Winner ranked to next dan. Game Spot Versus has a new 3rd Strike league system! Pretty similar to Virtua Fighter Ranking System. Players enter the League with a character and by competing against players with the same or similar rank you either get one point or lose one. You start with the rank “shodan”, after 3 points you move up to the next rank (from 1st dan to 10th dan). If you lose 3 points, your rank moves down one level. With 10th dan you only fight people with your level and after 5 points you get a special title “強者” meaning ‘Strong’. Also, players can re-enter using different characters, for example Kuroda is ranked 10th Dan with Ryu and 8th Dan with Hugo. Am I the only one with the video freeze problem at 3:22?
that akuma has to be kuroda
lol boss plays gouki nothing like kuroda.
15:18 lol 100% combo
i had a bunch throughout the vid, i just refreshed and it worked.
I think it’s supposed to be boss.
Even if the taunt gives damage bonuses, defense bonuses etc., the time frame used to do it can decrease or take away time for mixup opportunities. Some of the taunts it’s not even work the bonuses especially when it hinders rushdown.
Dudley’s is only useful in the corner for mixups. No one does it for the damage bonus.
Thanks for clearing that up. Yea i realize dudley’s taunt is usually only used on wakeup, but what about characters who’s taunt is very benficial, like hugo? Doesnt his taunt also increase his stamina? Or does it also hinder his rushdown?
@somanysomanycookies I refreshed the vid multiple time and it still happens.
your computer cannot handle the awesomeness that is RX
Does the PC version have online play as well
It’s a toss up. Most good Hugo’s would rather use the time to get in close than for the little increase in defene. Plus the taunt is slow and requires 4 of them to get the max benefits. I play Hugo and don’t bother with it and when I see other Hugo’s doing it I can machine go blow them out of it.
Necro and Akuma’s are worth doing so I don’t get why more players don’t do it. Q is a must as he is near worthless without the powered up defense.
There is a full list of the taunt stats for every character online somewhere. Hugo’s short taunt is defense increase, the long one is damage increase. He gets around 35% defense increase from 4 taunts.
when people said 15:20 was the most amazing 100% combo theyve seen, i had a feeling i knew exactly which combo it was going to be when i saw akuma vs rx lol
hahaha holy shit rx was dominating!
probably the most entertaining set of matches ive watched since kuroda vs ino
the other 2 players were good too though but RX was astounding with those aegis setups.
why doesnt boss go for the shun goku satsu when he has the chance??
never knew nuki’s ken was that crazy

“Alright, that’s cool”
Akuma’s is a bit slow IMO and he’s best with a lot of pressure…I think Necro’s taunt is only very safe after a dizzy…as for Hugo’s defensive taunt, I do it when some players are trying to build meter from full screen. They usually come to me then, either because they know I’m gaining stamina, or because they think it’s me egging them on.
Starting from 23:11. stay in the corner biatch! Notice the power bar decreased before RX cancels the super @ 23:13
2 things that are rare to see in a RX fight happen in the first match:
he misses the lk tackle timing on a juggle and he uses EX tackle.
RX Is a God and i will worship him…
It’s interesting to see how RX uses crouching MP in these matches. Rare usage for mind games :]
RX always impresses me.
